Grace achieved a Bachelor of Arts in English, graduating with academic honors from the University of California, Berkeley in 1981. She earned her Juris Doctorate degree in 1984 from the University of San Francisco, School of Law, and was admitted to the State Bar of California in December of 1984. Grace is also admitted to practice in the United States Federal District Courts of the Eastern, Northern, and Central Districts of California, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. Grace is a business lawyer with over 25 years of experience in transactions and litigation involving intellectual property, real estate, construction, and employment law. Grace provides businesses with guidance regarding corporate governance, compliance, and risk management practices. Grace worked as corporate counsel for MTS, Incorporated (d/b/a Tower Records) for nine years, establishing the in-house legal department in 1993. She served as Tower’s General Counsel from 1998, supervising all employment and trademark litigation, and preparing and negotiating all retail leases and construction contracts for the company. Currently a member of the state board of California Lawyers for the Arts, Grace also serves on the advisory board of Sacramento Lawyers for the Arts. She is also a member of California Women Lawyers and Women Lawyers of Sacramento. Grace served on the Women Lawyers of Sacramento board from 1994 through 2004, when she was elected the President. From 1997-1999 Grace was a Director and the President of the Sacramento Chapter of the American Corporate Counsel Association. She served on the State Bar Committee for Women in the Law from 2005-2007, and was the founding member of the Sacramento No Glass Ceiling Initiative in 2006. Grace taught Entertainment Law as an Adjunct professor at the McGeorge School of Law, Spring Semester 2002, and she is a frequent panelist and lecturer on various legal topics, including copyright issues, Internet law, and E-Discovery. |
